To meet these top-quality and traceability expectations, Arania<\/strong> was looking to implement a high-tech automated inspection system<\/strong>. The primary goal of this new scanning system is to maintain our added value, ensuring automotive customers that the delivered material will meet the most demanding quality requirements.<\/p>\n

As a result, we decided to upgrade the Arania<\/strong> skin pass<\/a> with an Ametek<\/a> SmartView\u00ae<\/a> automated surface inspection system: one of the world’s most renowned manufacturers of industrial electronics and electromechanical devices.[\/vc_column_text]

<\/span>A skin pass featuring state-of-the-art technology<\/span><\/div><\/div>[vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1584357868592{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]This system is designed to check the precision and quality of our rolled steel<\/strong> production. The device features a compact high-intensity LED beam, a 160 MHz Linescan 4K high-speed camera, the latest hardware technology for SmartView\u00ae SPU sensor processing units, and the latest SmartView\u00ae 7.2 software.<\/p>\n

Nearly 70% of the steel production goes through the skin pass<\/strong> mill, a key mechanism in our industrial chain. Arania<\/strong> operates a Quarto mill workspace with a radio-isotope gauge for thickness measuring, using antioxidant thixotropic oils and precision surface finish work rolls to deliver a high-quality final product.[\/vc_column_text]

<\/span>Top quality for the final product<\/span><\/div><\/div>[vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1584357992242{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]First of all, the Ametek team installed a test version of the inspection system in the Arania skin pass<\/strong>, in order to check the viability of the application. It was a success. This test confirmed the proper operation of the system, ensuring the transfer of the excellent results obtained in the laboratory to the real production of cold rolled steel<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This made the skin pass mill<\/strong> the selected site for the installation of this state-of-the-art inspection system<\/strong>. The skin pass<\/strong> process significantly increases the surface smoothness of the coils, unifying their thickness and improving their mechanical properties.<\/p>\n
