The promotion of diversity enhances organisational performance by improving workplace dynamics, accelerating innovation and bolstering competitiveness. A study conducted by Grupo SPRI underscores this impact, identifying ARANIA, a leader in the Spanish cold-rolled steel industry, as a prime example of how inclusive policies contribute to long-term sustainability and industrial consolidation.<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1738924287882{margin-bottom: 10px !important;}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p lang=\"de-DE\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">The correlation between gender equality and competitiveness is becoming increasingly relevant in long-term industrial growth strategies, particularly in traditionally male-dominated sectors such as the steel industry. Grupo SPRI, the Basque Business Development Agency, has conducted a comprehensive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spri.eus\/es\/igualdad\/el-grupo-spri-presenta-en-madrid-su-informe-sobre-la-mujer-y-la-industria\/\">study<\/a><\/span> <span lang=\"en-GB\">\u00a0o<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">n the impact of gender equality on industrial competitiveness, analysing 474 companies in the Basque Country and 76 firms across 20 European countries<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">. <\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">The results are compelling: firms that have actively implemented policies to reduce the gender gap demonstrate superior performance in revenue growth, job creation, and innovation capacity<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"de-DE\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">As highlighted in this study presented at the <\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">World <a href=\"https:\/\/worldmanufacturing.org\/activities\/world-manufacturing-forum-2024\/\">Manufacturing Forum 2024<\/a> ,<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">gender equality is a key driver of competitiveness, particularly in international expansion and technological breakthroughs<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">. <\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">The research establishes a direct link between workforce diversity and innovation, confirming that inclusive teams foster more creative and efficient solutions. These results are not a coincidence, but rather the consequence of the company\u2019s strategic and comprehensive commitment to gender equality.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"de-DE\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">As previously announced on our blog, ARANIA has reinforced its commitment to gender equality since early 2023 through the establishment of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.araniasa.com\/en\/arania-implements-the-equality-plan\/\"><strong><span lang=\"en-GB\">Equality Commission<\/span><\/strong><\/a><span lang=\"en-GB\">, <\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">a key driver of organisational change<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">. A clear indicator of this progress is the evolution of the <\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">Management Committee<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">, where female representation has increased from <\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">10%<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\"> a decade ago to <\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">30%<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\"> today, signalling a decisive shift towards a more inclusive leadership model.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"de-DE\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">However, the company still faces significant challenges, especially on its production site, where the presence of women still stands at just 1%, significantly lower than the industry sector average of around 19%. <\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">This underrepresentation is largely attributed to long-standing structural and cultural biases that associate these roles with physical endurance. B<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">eyond fostering gender inclusivity in production, this initiative contributes to safer working conditions and enhanced operational performance<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"de-DE\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">Another essential strategy is ARANIA\u2019s <\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">commitment to diversity in recruitment processes<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">. The HR team actively promotes gender balance by prioritising the hiring of women in traditionally male-dominated departments (and vice versa), thus fostering diversity as a key driver of team performance and competitiveness.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"de-DE\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">Additionally, ARANIA actively promotes female role models in the industry by participating in initiatives such as <a href=\"https:\/\/industriaerronka.eus\/es\">INDUSTRIA ERRONKA<\/a><\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">, a project designed and promoted by <\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">FVEM, the<\/span><b> <\/b><span lang=\"en-GB\">Biscayan Federation of Metal Companies. The underrepresentation of women in <\/span><strong><span lang=\"en-GB\">STEM<\/span><\/strong><span lang=\"en-GB\"> education remains a major limitation. To counter this trend, it is imperative to encourage scientific and technical careers among girls from an early stage<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"de-DE\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"><b>Development<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">: After entering the industry space, women must be provided with real opportunities for professional growth. <\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">Equality training<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">, <\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">work-life balance policies<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">, and the <\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">eradication of bias in job promotion<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\"> are critical measures for fostering an inclusive and equitable work environment.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"de-DE\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"><b>Leadership<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">: The presence of women in management boards within the industrial sector is still limited.
