As part of its commitment to sustainability and reduction of its environmental footprint, Arania<\/b> keeps strengthening its energy strategy and mobility approach with initiatives that promote a more efficient and environmentally friendly model. Recent steps include the installation of charging points for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles at the company\u2019s main site, as well as the provision of facilities to encourage active mobility among employees. These measures are part of a comprehensive strategy that already encompasses on-site solar energy, intermodal transport solutions and the use of electricity from 100% renewable sources, consolidating Arania\u2019s role as a leader in sustainable mobility in the steel industry.<\/p>\n

As part of its sustainability drive, the Arania Group<\/b> has recently added a 100% electric truck to its fleet for local deliveries and short-distance operations between its own facilities\u2014an approach known as \u2018Km 0\u2019 logistics, referring to services conducted within a 100-kilometre radius. This proximity-based industrial model allows for a significant reduction in the carbon footprint associated with logistics interactions involving nearby companies.<\/p>\n

Arania\u2019s new Volvo FM Electric truck is a high-end vehicle offering a range of up to 300 km, enabling an annual reduction of approximately 140 tonnes of CO\u2082<\/span> compared to an equivalent diesel truck. In addition to its low environmental impact, these transport vehicles represent a significant improvement in terms of noise and vibration levels reduction, positively influencing safety, health, and overall workplace quality. The shift towards electrified short-haul logistics\u2014powered by 100% renewable electricity\u2014underlines the Arania Group\u2019s commitment to sustainable and cleaner operations.<\/p>\n

The lack of charging points available on a daily basis is one of the main obstacles to the adoption of electric vehicles in Spain, thus restricting their viability for many users. In response to this growing demand, Arania has created seven dedicated parking bays for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles at its Amorebieta site, fitted with two charging stations that can power up to four vehicles at once.<\/p>\n

Additionally, with a view to foster active mobility among employees, the company has established a specific area for bicycles as a sustainable transport solution. Two spaces have been created with capacity for up to 12 bicycles,<\/b> aiming to encourage staff to opt for a healthier and more environmentally friendly alternative for their daily commute. These actions mark a clear move towards more accessible and environmentally conscious mobility in our industrial context.<\/p>\n

Arania is steadily progressing towards a fossil fuel-free logistics model across its internal activities. Currently, 60% of the industrial forklifts in operation are electric, powered by 100% renewable electricity, partly produced by the company\u2019s own photovoltaic installation. The gradual electrification of this fleet has led to a notable improvement in working conditions and a direct reduction in internal emissions. Until the full fleet is replaced, Arania is maintaining an ongoing project that considers the use of biofuels as a temporary measure to further cut emissions.<\/p>\n

Arania\u2019s logistics sustainability strategy goes well beyond the adoption of electric vehicles. For several years, the company has been implementing an intermodal transport model\u2014combining road and rail\u2014which has succeeded in cutting emissions by up to 85% from shipments to countries such as Italy, thanks to optimised planning and efficient load consolidation. In this way, intermodal transport strengthens operational resilience and reduces exposure to rising fuel prices, supporting the sustainability goals of the 2030 Agenda.<\/p>\n

Far from being merely symbolic, these actions prove that sustainability can be seamlessly integrated into the most demanding industrial processes, without compromising efficiency or competitiveness. Fleet electrification, intermodal transport, on-site charging facilities for electric vehicles, togeteher with solar energy, are already part of Arania\u2019s operational routine. Through concrete, measurable and replicable initiatives, Arania reaffirms its commitment to industrial sustainability and positions itself as a catalyst for change towards a cleaner, more efficient and more responsible economic and production model.<\/p>\n
